How to upload onto Final Cut Pro

Once filming you upload the film onto a programe called 'Final Cut Pro'. Its a programe that lets you upload and edit films that have been shot.

Firstly you have to make sure the tape is in the camera and rewind to make sure the footage is at the start. You then attach the firewire cable from the camera to the computer you are working on. Before you do this make suer the camera is on 'VCR'.
You then open up 'Final Cut Pro'  and close any open projects, start a new project (if the project already exists then file>open recent) if not you go to
File > log > capture
clip settings (choose aud & vid)
you then click capture now and press play on the camera. Once the footage is loaded you press esc and close 'log & capture' window.

Establishing continuity when shooting

Conventional continuity depends on both shooting and editing. When shooting a director needs to consider a couple of 'rules' of continuity.

30 degree rule
The 30 degree rule is a basic film editing guideline that states the camera should move at least 30 degrees between shots of the same subject. This change of perspective makes the shots different enough to avoid a jump cut.
180 degree rule
The 180 degree rule is another basic film editing guideline that states that two charters in the same scene should always have been the same left/right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the 'imaginary' axis (line) connecting the two subjects, its called crossing line.

Timetable 1st part

This is the first part of the timetable to help with my organisation.

Timetable 2nd part

This is a timetable to help me manage my time and to help me know when each task has to be completed by. It lets me know what has to be done and when it has to be done by, it is then my responsibility to get it done. Without this i wouldn't be as organised and would probably missed things out by accident, its helped me a lot.

Brief for Foundation portfolio - Media

For the brief we are required to make a preliminary exercise and a main task. The preliminary exercise involves filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair followed by two lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.

The main task involves the titles and opening of a new fiction film lasting a maximum of 2minuets.
