The equiptment we needed to actually film was fairly basic. we needed:
A camera (Sony PD170)
A Tripod
An umbrella - in case of rain (to hold over camera)
film - for camera
spare battery - in case the original ran out of charge
We then needed props and personal props.
Because our scenes were outside we didn't need that many props because we choose the set due to it having everything we needed. Eg, open space, trees, lake, gate..etc
However the charchter in it needed several personal props. She was wearing heels, tights, skirt, top and jacket. This was to show she was on her way home from being out somewhere (party/with friends). She had a handbag filled with personal accessories, this was essential especcily the keys in it so that when she dropped her bag it was all there for her to pick up and put back in!
We then had to think of the way she looked, for example she started off looking fairly Nice however after running through the woods late at night and stumbling tripping over several times her outfit became messy and she had dirt/mud on her face.
Although our equiptment list was pretty simple and basic, everything on it was essential and important.

SCRIIPPPTTT
Comparison of three horror films
The first film i have choosen to look at is called Hide and Seek.
Directed by John Polson and written by Ari Schlossberg. The film was released on 25th Fenruary 2005 and was extremly sucsessful.
Its classified as 'Hrror/Thiller/Mystery' and has a tagline of 'come out, come out wherver you are'. This line dosent say much although in just that once sentance it gives off a sense of myster and makes you wonder. Whose saying it? Who are they talking to? Where are they? Whats going on?.
Hide and seek is the story of a young girl named Emily Callaway, after her mother commits suacide, her father is left a widower and moves them upstate so they can try and move on with their lives. Her games of Hide and Seek with an imaginary friend by the name of "Charlie" have become anything but simple and innocent. Instead, she finds herself in the middle of a series of increasingly nightmarish acts that even her father David cannot stop. Who--or what--is Charlie?! David wonders. How can an imaginary person have this kind of hold on her? Maybe Charlie is not imaginary at all, but instead a flesh-and-blood, malevolent presence? David and Emily's doctor, Katherine, begin to worry. Now, David and Emily must find a way out of this mess...if they are to survive
Brief summary of the first 2 minuets!
A black screen with your typical horror/spooky music. Then white texts appears saying. 'First day of the new year. New york city'
We then see three short flashes of Eyes,Hands,Doll. This symbolises the child in the movie. We see a little girl lying flat smiling and then the camera then moves onto a view of the sky whilst spinning round, this shows the angle of view from the girl looking up into the sky as the playground ride spins around. It starts to zoom out whilst we hear a little girls laughter and eventually see her on the ride. The mum is standing there spinning her!
It then switches to a scene of the mum in the kithen standing over the work surfaces holding a glass of wine. We hear her pick up something that sounds lie ratteling (pills in a bottle)
The mother then goes into the little girls bedroom, but the girl is hideing (playing hide and seek) and the mother says 'come out come out wherever you are' this is the main line of the film. the line of speech that represents the movie.
That is the first 2 minuets.
The second film i looked at was 'Halloween', directed by Rob Zombie and written by Rob Zombie, John Carpener. The film was released on the 28th September 2007 and was classified under the genre 'horror'. It's tagline is ' Evil has a destiney', its a short sttement but one with a powerful meaning.
The film is about the redisents of Haddonfield. They don't know it yet but death is coming to their small sleepy town. Sixteen years ago, a ten year old boy called Michael Myers brutally kills his step father, his elder sister and her boyfriend. Sixteen years later,on halloween 1963 he escapes from the mental institution and makes his way back to his hometown intent on a murderous rampage pursued by Dr Sam Loomis who is Michael's doctor and the only one who knows Michael's true evil. Elsewhere a shy teenager by the name of Laurie Strode is babysitting on the night Michael comes home... is it pure coincidence that she and her friends are being stalked by him?
write how it started!!!!!
The third film i compared was 'The Amityville Horor'. It was direted by Andrew Douglas and written by Scott Kosar and Jay Anson. It was released on 15th April 2005 and goes under 'Drama/Horror/Mystery/Mystery/Thriller'. The tagline is 'Whatever happend over the next 28 days has never been explained'.
The film is about George & Kathy Lutz and Kathy's 3 children are moving into an elegant Long Island home. What they don't know is that 6 gruesome murders were committed there the year before - Ronald DeFeo Jr., the oldest son in the family, murdered his parents, his 2 brothers & 2 sisters by shooting them with a .35 caliber in November of 1974. No sooner are the Lutzes moved into the house than they begin seeing horrible things - the ghost of Jodie DeFeo, horribly disfigured bodies - and hearing ghostly voices throughout the house. George seems to notice it the most, and it isn't long before he becomes a danger to those around him. When the local priest, called in to bless the house, comes charging out in horror after being swarmed by flies, he issues a dire warning to Kathy - 'Leave that house'. But will they be able to escape before the house and its vengeful spirits take control of George - and make him into a deadly menace?

The genre we picked
The genre i picked was Horror (thriller/scary). We picked this as our genre because some of our favorite films belong in this genre.
All horror things have 4 things in common with are some of the most importat thins in that genre:
One of the most important thins is the 'catch phrase'. Haveing a good catch phrase will outlast the forgettable plot of the horror movie, and is usually seen on the movie poster. Its the phrase in the movie that you never forget and when u hear the movie name comes straight into your head. For example, “They’re here” from Poltergeist and “I see dead people” from Sixth Sense.
The second thing that is important is ;Sequels'. Sequels are a major requirement to horror movies, there usually much more cheesy and gory than the original. It doesn’t matter if the main killer of the movie has been blown up, drowned, hacked to death, burned, shot, run over, tarred and feathered – he still makes a return in all of the many, many sequels to come.
The third is 'Creepy Music', to me this is proboably the most important. It has such a strong effect on the film/scene it can practically change your view on the sitation. A lot of the time when you film something it dosent look that scary however, the minuete you add typical horror/creepy music to it, it becomes very tense and scary. The music that supports a horror film is usually way scarier than the actual movie. And it often gives the audience a heads-up before something “bad” happens.
The fourth is 'Evil Entity'. Every film needs a good versus evil storyline. Good is usually the hot, semi-clothed teens and evil can be anything from a guy in a mask, a great white shark, a haunted house, zombies, a guy in your dreams.
When we were looking for three movies to compare these are the main things we looked for because these will be important to us when makeing our film.

Genre research
I researched into all the different types on genres their were so i could decide on the one i wanted to use .
Action - Action films usually include high energy, big-budget physical stunts and chases, possibly with rescues, battles, fights, escapes, destructive crises (floods, explosions, natural disasters, fires, etc.), non-stop motion, spectacular rhythm and pacing, and adventurous, often two-dimensional 'good-guy' heroes (or recently, heroines) battling 'bad guys' - all designed for pure audience escapism.
Adventure - Adventure films are usually exciting stories, with new experiences or exotic locales, very similar to or often paired with the action film genre.
Comedy - Comedies are light-hearted plots consistently and deliberately designed to amuse and provoke laughter (with one-liners, jokes, etc.) by exaggerating the situation, the language, action, relationships and characters
Crime & Gangster - Crime (gangster) films are developed around the sinister actions of criminals or mobsters, particularly bankrobbers, underworld figures, or ruthless hoodlums who operate outside the law, stealing and murdering their way through life. Criminal and gangster films are often categorized as film noir or detective-mystery films - because of underlying similarities between these cinematic forms.
Drama - Dramas are serious, plot-driven presentations, portraying realistic characters, settings, life situations, and stories involving intense character development and interaction. Usually, they are not focused on special-effects, comedy, or action, Dramatic films are probably the largest film genre, with many subsets
Eppic/Historial - Epics include costume dramas, historical dramas, war films, medieval romps, or 'period pictures' that often cover a large expanse of time set against a vast, panoramic backdrop. Epics often share elements of the elaborate adventure films genre. Epics take an historical or imagined event, mythic, legendary, or heroic figure, and add an extravagant setting and lavish costumes, accompanied by grandeur and spectacle, dramatic scope, high production values, and a sweeping musical score.
Horror - Horror films are designed to frighten and to invoke our hidden worst fears, often in a terrifying, shocking finale, while captivating and entertaining us at the same time in a cathartic experience. Horror films feature a wide range of styles, from the earliest silent Nosferatu classic, to today's CGI monsters and deranged humans. They are often combined with science fiction when the menace or monster is related to a corruption of technology, or when Earth is threatened by aliens.
Thriller - Thrillers are often hybrids with other genres - there are action-thrillers, crime-caper thrillers, western-thrillers, film-noir thrillers, even romantic comedy-thrillers. Another closely-related genre is the horror film genre. Thriller and suspense films are virtually synonymous and interchangeable categorizations. They are types of films known to promote intense excitement, suspense, a high level of anticipation, ultra-heightened expectation, uncertainty, -
Science Fiction - Sci-fi films are often quasi-scientific, visionary and imanxiety, and nerve-wracking tensio naginative - complete with heroes, aliens, distant planets, impossible quests, improbable settings, fantastic places, great dark and shadowy villains, futuristic technology, unknown and unknowable forces, and extraordinary monsters ('things or creatures from space'), either created by mad scientists or by nuclear havoc. They are sometimes an offshoot of fantasy films, or they share some similarities with action/adventure films. Science fiction often expresses the potential of technology to destroy humankind and easily overlaps with horror films.
War (anti-war) -War films acknowledge the horror and heartbreak of war, letting the actual combat fighting (against nations or humankind) on land, sea, or in the air provide the primary plot or background for the action of the film. War films are often paired with other genres, such as action, adventure, drama, romance, comedy (black), suspense, and even epics and westerns, and they often take a denunciatory approach toward warfare
Westerns - Westerns are the major defining genre of the American film industry - a eulogy to the early days of the expansive American frontier. They are one of the oldest, most enduring genres with very recognizable plots, elements, and character
