The first film i have choosen to look at is called Hide and Seek.
Directed by John Polson and written by Ari Schlossberg. The film was released on 25th Fenruary 2005 and was extremly sucsessful.
Its classified as 'Hrror/Thiller/Mystery' and has a tagline of 'come out, come out wherver you are'. This line dosent say much although in just that once sentance it gives off a sense of myster and makes you wonder. Whose saying it? Who are they talking to? Where are they? Whats going on?.
Hide and seek is the story of a young girl named Emily Callaway, after her mother commits suacide, her father is left a widower and moves them upstate so they can try and move on with their lives. Her games of Hide and Seek with an imaginary friend by the name of "Charlie" have become anything but simple and innocent. Instead, she finds herself in the middle of a series of increasingly nightmarish acts that even her father David cannot stop. Who--or what--is Charlie?! David wonders. How can an imaginary person have this kind of hold on her? Maybe Charlie is not imaginary at all, but instead a flesh-and-blood, malevolent presence? David and Emily's doctor, Katherine, begin to worry. Now, David and Emily must find a way out of this mess...if they are to survive
Brief summary of the first 2 minuets!
A black screen with your typical horror/spooky music. Then white texts appears saying. 'First day of the new year. New york city'
We then see three short flashes of Eyes,Hands,Doll. This symbolises the child in the movie. We see a little girl lying flat smiling and then the camera then moves onto a view of the sky whilst spinning round, this shows the angle of view from the girl looking up into the sky as the playground ride spins around. It starts to zoom out whilst we hear a little girls laughter and eventually see her on the ride. The mum is standing there spinning her!
It then switches to a scene of the mum in the kithen standing over the work surfaces holding a glass of wine. We hear her pick up something that sounds lie ratteling (pills in a bottle)
The mother then goes into the little girls bedroom, but the girl is hideing (playing hide and seek) and the mother says 'come out come out wherever you are' this is the main line of the film. the line of speech that represents the movie.
That is the first 2 minuets.
The second film i looked at was 'Halloween', directed by Rob Zombie and written by Rob Zombie, John Carpener. The film was released on the 28th September 2007 and was classified under the genre 'horror'. It's tagline is ' Evil has a destiney', its a short sttement but one with a powerful meaning.
The film is about the redisents of Haddonfield. They don't know it yet but death is coming to their small sleepy town. Sixteen years ago, a ten year old boy called Michael Myers brutally kills his step father, his elder sister and her boyfriend. Sixteen years later,on halloween 1963 he escapes from the mental institution and makes his way back to his hometown intent on a murderous rampage pursued by Dr Sam Loomis who is Michael's doctor and the only one who knows Michael's true evil. Elsewhere a shy teenager by the name of Laurie Strode is babysitting on the night Michael comes home... is it pure coincidence that she and her friends are being stalked by him?
write how it started!!!!!
The third film i compared was 'The Amityville Horor'. It was direted by Andrew Douglas and written by Scott Kosar and Jay Anson. It was released on 15th April 2005 and goes under 'Drama/Horror/Mystery/Mystery/Thriller'. The tagline is 'Whatever happend over the next 28 days has never been explained'.
The film is about George & Kathy Lutz and Kathy's 3 children are moving into an elegant Long Island home. What they don't know is that 6 gruesome murders were committed there the year before - Ronald DeFeo Jr., the oldest son in the family, murdered his parents, his 2 brothers & 2 sisters by shooting them with a .35 caliber in November of 1974. No sooner are the Lutzes moved into the house than they begin seeing horrible things - the ghost of Jodie DeFeo, horribly disfigured bodies - and hearing ghostly voices throughout the house. George seems to notice it the most, and it isn't long before he becomes a danger to those around him. When the local priest, called in to bless the house, comes charging out in horror after being swarmed by flies, he issues a dire warning to Kathy - 'Leave that house'. But will they be able to escape before the house and its vengeful spirits take control of George - and make him into a deadly menace?
